SUMMARY:AMPLIFY! – Cultures and Technologies of Resistance in the Diaspora
DESCRIPTION:AMPLIFY! is a celebration of public resilience and diasporic excellence taking place on October 24 and 25\, 2026\, at Schauspielhaus Bochum (Germany). Initiated by Cute Community Radio in association with Sound System Outernational (Goldsmiths\, University of London) and the Institut für Medienwissenschaft (Ruhr-Universität Bochum)\, AMPLIFY! unites grassroots community practice\, academic research\, and institutional art. \n\n\n\nThrough a curated programme of live performances\, screenings\, lectures\, talks and DJ sets\, we celebrate Sound System Culture and Community Radio as vital laboratories for media technology\, social resistance\, and diasporic excellence. \n\n\n\nThe two-day event will feature keynotes by Prof. Carolyn Cooper\, Prof. Julian Henriques and Dr Larisa Kingston Mann\, a panel on Sound System Culture in the Diaspora\, the Sound System Culture Worldwide film screenings curated by Brian D’Aquino \, and a night of sound system culture with Aba Shanti-I\, Daniella Dee\, Chrom System\, Baobab Intl. and other local sounds.
